Scratch that, reverse it.

So unfortunately my ramblings about tour are no longer going ahead, sometimes this happens some days you have to realise that this business is exactly that - a business. But i'm happy to see through starry eyes and not worry about that shit. Lately it has been an endless stream of conversations about timing, marketing and business business business and i cant help but vent my frustration, when did doing what you love become about making other people money? I'm not so naive to not realise that it has always been this way but it has just become more apparent lately.

On the other hand i have been sitting at my desk for the last hour listening to our new record and for once i felt like i actually got out what i wanted to say there have been a few topics i have wanted to write about for years but could never quite say exactly what i want and i feel like Far and i have accomplished that, which is a nice feeling. Plus when a certain new song hits 1:54 i smile until the song ends, you will see what i mean soon.

Now go down to your local comic/book shop buy everything "Fables" you can get your hands on and thank me later. Its honestly consuming my life haha.

Your continued support makes us all sleep better.

The good with the bad.

Hey there,

Just thought i would drop in and let you guys know everything that is going on we have plenty to talk about so get comfortable.

First things first, Drew is no longer a part of The Mission In Motion this was his decision as he had things in his life that he wanted to pursue and we all 100% support him in everything he will be doing, there is no big juicy story here, sometimes peoples priorities change and thats just the way it is we want to thank him for everything over the past 5 years and being a part of all this with us.

Our new bassplayer is a handsome young fella named Rohan if you came to see us on the Kenny Vasoli tour you would have seen him in action, we are stoked to have such a great musician and friend join our band if you see him around at shows make sure you go and introduce yourself to him.

While we are on the topic of our friend Kenny and the tour we recently partook with him i just want to say that none of us have had a better time on tour than we did on this one it was amazing and there was so much of it that we will all remember forever including the last night of the tour where us, our friends ellington and all our friends who tour with us sat on the stage in Brisbane while Kenny played and everyone sang along. Amazing night and amazing tour thank you to Kenny and Michelle for coming to hang out with us.

THE ALBUM - is nearly finished the last days of recording were pushed back due to the studio being in construction so this weekend i believe we will have it finished there are a few surprises on there and songs that we are all very proud of and we cannot wait for you guys to get your hands on it.

TOUR - i cant give away any details but we will be out on the road again really soon, pretty excited about it and all shall be revealed very soon.

Ok im off to get sushi and do some christmas shopping, is it really November already??? my my my.

Take care,

Bretty

Drive Well, Sleep Carefully

Hello Friends,

I am writing to you from my bedroom after my first full day off from the studio, i have caught up on some reading, organised some flights and other things for tour and am feeling very productive hence the blog update!!!

STUDIO - we are NEARLY finished, everything is coming together amazingly the more that gets finished the more excited we get, there are some definite surprises on this record that i hope you will all enjoy and i think we have summed up the last year of our lives quite nicely. I start tracking vocals again on Wednesday and then mixing Thursday and Friday and then thats it! So i am feeling very thankful that we are coming to an end to all this madness. This record has been ridiculous amounts of work but it will all be worth it we all have empty pockets but everyone is stoked to show you all these new songs.

TOUR - we are currently cramming practices in between studio time to get ready for our up coming tour with Kenny Vasoli, from being a kid listening to Drive Thru bands to actually touring with someone we all greatly respect and someone who we have listened to for years is something we havent quite wrapped our heads around yet but as usual as soon as tour starts i will be letting you know how the tour is and probably how many times ive made an ass of myself geeking out and telling Kenny how amazing i think he is. Stay posted.

On that note i will leave you but a friend of ours Andy Ratcliffe was nice enough to send me some photos he has taken while being out on the road with us over the last year and a half and also some photos from us in the studio so im gonna post them below.
MAKE SURE YOU ALL GET YOUR TICKETS FOR TOUR!!!!!
Cheers,
Brett

Golden Days.

Hey Guys,

I am writing to you from the studio where i have had too much caffeine and not enough food so if this gets a little weird my apologies are in advance.

We have just finished another drum track and im about to get up off this couch and start singing, my voice feels good, thanks for asking.

500 days of summer was great, highly reccomend it, still listening to the damnwells every five seconds and asking myself why i dont write songs this good hahaha.

We are taking quite a bit of video footage while we are here in the studio so hopefully we can edit it all together into something nice for you to all check out.

Ok im writing cos im procrastinating i better go do something productive.

Somewhere between nothing and something is everything.

So i was pretty excited to see im not talking to myself!! hahahaha thank you for all your emails they were most welcome. I am about to head out the door to go to Far's house to work on another new song, we finished one off yesterday which we are pretty happy with, on the odd occasion alcohol will cure writers block, not always, but sometimes it will.

I have been listening to The Damnwells - One Last Century, its really really good. Suits the warmer weather we are having here in Sydney you can get it for free at their website www.thedamnwells.com so you dont have to feel guilty for ripping it somewhere else. Give it a shot, especially Bastards of Midnight, Dandelion and Everything, so good.

I am heading out to see 500 days of summer tonight and hopefully it will set the tone for a good summer, or maybe im relying on that too much? haha ill let you know what i think.

Cant believe there is still a month till tour, been waiting forever.

I've been waiting.

Hello there,

So its been a while (do i start every post like this cos i feel like i do?) and i have no idea if anyone reads this thing, if im talking to myself at least i have something to read later so i know what i got up to right?

Anyway recording is getting there still we start again on the 13th of September for the last run of recording so we are busy getting last minute songs finished and i am frantically pushing myself to pump out lyrics at breakneck speed. I feel like this record is going to be something we are all going to be super proud of, its been a fucking crazy struggle and a massive uphill battle for everyone involved but i guess thats gonna make it all the more an accomplishment when we finish. The last year has been a tough one for everyone involved in this record and i believe that shows in the songs and i think that gives it more merit, its not so easy to write songs when everything is awesome right? right.

So if you are one of those people who reads this and checks it i can tell you that our first single is going to be a song called "Believer" and it will find your ears in the next 2 months, we will be shooting a video for it in the coming weeks so we will keep you updated as to when you can check that out.

Also speaking of videos our video for "A Curse, A Calling" has made its way onto the internet so if you search youtube you can check that out.

Other than that we are just super anxious to get this recording done cos when that is done we can get excited about showing you all.

oh and go get your hands on the new Owen album "new leaves" cos its great.

Later,

Bretty

PS If you actually read this send me an email im kinda curious brettislaub@gmail.com xo.

And You Dont Want To Look Surprised But Your In Constant Awe.

Evening all,

We have spent the last few weeks tucked away like trolls in caves recording 2 brand new songs for our upcoming album. Now the deal is that we have recorded these two songs that we are going to decide between for the first single then spend another month writing and rehearsing then go back into the studio to finish the rest of the album it sounds strange but this was the quickest way we could get a new song to your (hopefully) eager little ears so by the time we go back into the studio the first single should be released (again, hopefully!).

So everything is pretty much going full speed ahead currently, tours are being organised (and nearly ready to be announced) we are bringing someone out that we couldnt be more excited about so everyone is really stoked.

Ideas are being put together for a video shoot so we are siked about that and yeah thats pretty much whats been happening with us.

Anyway i shall see you all very soon (october to be exact).

Brett

PS i was right about the new as tall as lions record.
PPS everyone who keeps commenting our facebook, it isnt run by us but we all read it everyday so keep hittin it!!!!!

I know, I know.

Hello People,
It has been a while i know, im doing well thanks how are you? good? good!!

Down to business, WE ARE STARTING RECORDING!!!! it seems like forever since we have been in an actual studio making actual music so im actually pretty excited!! Lots of things to get organised, first and foremost - songs, then artwork, mastering all so much to do but i am excited to do these things, its funny how when you are happy to do something alot of work doesnt seem very daunting, its good.
So as many of you know we have been demoing for a very long time working on these new songs and we are nearly 100% happy with how they are, few little twists and tweaks to go but overall i can say it is our best work yet (i know everyone says that but if you dont have progression what do you gots?) so yeah many things to be happy about.

So on Monday we begin our journey, we will be filming a series of docos about the making of the record so you can see how we are going and how things are sounding and we will post those as soon as each one is finished so keep your eyes peeled for that. Now down to other exciting things.
Reading:

I have just finished reading Ryan Adam's Infinity Blues, if you like (or love) the guy definitely grab it if you havent heard him not the best thing to get, the guy is pretty messed up and this is a book full of poetry he has written about everything from dragons to cigarettes to sex. Its pretty cool. I really liked "27 Steps".

So i have a big huge pile of books next to my bed most of which i havent even bothered to look at yet so tonight i think im going to begin reading The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury, everything this guy does is amazing (not to mention the halloween tree being my favourite book EVER) so yeah ill keep you posted on my thoughts.

Listening wise these are the albums currently finding themselves frequenting my ears:

Augustana - All The Stars and Boulevards: First album from an amazing band, not as amazing as "Cant Love, Cant Hurt" but still so good, got a really 90's feel like Counting Crows or the Gin Blossoms its seriously great.

As Tall As Lions - You Can't Take It With You: Ok so mayybbbeeee this album hasnt come out yet but have you heard the new song at their myspace? (www.myspace.com/astallaslions) i already know this is gonna be my favourite record this year and just look at their artwork!! as if you dont want to buy it purely for that!! So excited

Pete Yorn - Back and Fourth: Nothing is ever gonna be as good as his first album but this is kinda along the same lines as that album and its growing on me, dude has a really good voice, check it.

And thats about it from me, i will leave you of a picture of what ive been staring at for the last few months starring your friend and mine Mister F-Man Maguire.
Love you all, Talk soon,
Brett

WA TOUR DIARY!!!! YEEEEEEOOOOOWWWW!!!!

25/03/2009

K today we are heading back to PERTH!!! We are all effing stoked to be going back as last time was so much fun so i wake up (say it with me now...) feeling less than amazing, less reading more sleeping would have been a good idea. My Dad has volunteered to drop this precious cargo at the airport as i am flying seperately from the boys as dad has come through with the goods and used his frequent flyers to get my ticket SIKED! So i check in without too much trouble pay a visit to
oversized baggage to get our merch box checked and i am rockin a window seat in no time yeow!!!

Flying on your own is stupid boring thank god there are like 15 movies to choose from and i have three books, my DS and my ipod with me hahahaha Brett - 1, Boredom - 0. I cruise the movie channel and make probably one of the worst decisions of this whole tour - twilight. Maybe i was tired or not thinking straight but no one will shut up about this thing so i check it out, wish i didnt and ill leave it at that. After that i go for a better choice and pick burn after reading awesome movie. After a little nap i am descending into Perth.

Jump off the plane roll to baggage as im waiting for my bags Far comes in (the boys landed a couple of hours before me) helps me pick up my luggage and i meet the rest of the guys in the van out the front, we have nothing to do and nowhere to go so we head to the beach! After some hanging out and a stupid match trick i tried to show to lachlan which ended up nearly burning my fucking hand off we are back in the van and headed to our first venue THE FOUNDRY.

Cannington, not the NICEST area i've ever spent my time but what are you gonna do we are in perth! im happy enough about that to not let it worry me. At load in we meet Jonny who is our tour manager/promoter/dispenser of beer and multiple other things as well as the bass player in fractures of who are playing most dates of this tour with us. At load in some old friends come down including nicest guy alive and elora danan guitarist Ryan! missed this dude if you have met him you know how nice he is.

We load in and watch some of the bands the venue The Foundry is kinda strange half
steakhouse half venue and its Wednesday night we arent expecting much but a few shuffle through the door which is nice. Last time we played this venue on the Elora tour it was a nightmare to say the least so we are a little nervous but jump on and play surprisingly well! yeow!!

Post show we are off to Jonnys sisters place to crash for the night (thanks sam!) who is already in bed but our beds are all set up all over the house thanks to Jon so we all throw our shit on the
floor and literally pass out. Goodnight.

26/03/2009

WOKE UP FEELING AMAZING!! Yes, knew it would happen soon. Lachlan and i got stuck in the same room together (on bunks! yeow!) because we are the snorers of our band and apparently quite good ones we are told. I wake him up and we head out to the kitchen where everyone is hanging out watching tv.

Kenny, Lach and Far decided its time to hit the beach so they head out. Drew has been pretty sick so he thinks it best to stay and relax i agree with him and we lay on the couch and watch sin city forgot how amazing this movie was Nick Stahl is my hero.We were told that Sam has a dog called Keisha so of course i imagine a tiny little poodle or something, yeah nahhhhhhh rottweiller big as hell and not happy when i walk out the back door goes APESHIT scared the life out of me i rethink my idea to head out the backyard. Sam comes home and makes us all a massive amazing dinner!!! so good. She lets Keisha in the house and surprisingly she is really affectionate probably just hated strangers with big hairdos talking to her like she is an idiot.

Off to the next venue Mojo's out at Fremantle hit the van and start driving. Get to the venue its
really nice almost shedlike i actually am not sure how to describe it the outdoor area looks like
someones backyard its great! I hit a nap in the van after load in our friends Ash, Evan, Micheal and a few others (2 live here, 1 flew over to hang out for the shows) roll up (as they did last night) to hang out (fucken brackets!! WOO!!) and everyone starts hanging out drinking and what not. I have to do an interview with Anarchy on the air which is a local Perth radio station and the guy who runs said show works for our label his name is Ben he has a gigantic beard and likes finch he is also so fucking nice and is a great conversationalist so the interview goes great.

Pineapple Juice/Water/Melon flavoured extra and we are on stage, i didnt really feel this show at the start but it got good at the end. The bar owner offered us a free round to play 2 more songs, done and DONE sir! after the show we hang with all the bands and talk to some friends and start loading out after that we were back in the van and heading home in bed and out cold probably 2 hours later.

27/03/2009

Ok so last night Ash (the friend that lives here that was an old school friend of Far's CATCH UP!) offered to take a few of the boys to Margaret River as Kenny is really into surfing and he's pretty good too so Drew, Kenny, Ash and Sutter were all up at 5 am to trek 3 and a half hours to Margaret River for what im told later was 5 to 6 foot great surf so thats what they did all day. Far went to the beach with some other of his Perth friends Lach and i did pretty much nothing.

Tonight is the only all ages show on the tour so everyone wants this to be a good one after everyone converges back at Sam's we head out. HQ is in a place called Leederville and last time we were here i found an amazing book shop, amazing coffee and an amazing vege burger so i was stoked to come back we load in Ryan is back to hang out as well as Matt from Elora which was nice to see those dudes again after load in Ryan and i stand around and talk about many things including Lemony Snicket and their new album In the Room Up There and the upcoming tour they are doing. After that i am off to the bookshop!! spent about an hour in there found the complete works of the brothers grimm! a bunch of old creepy fairy tales about wolves and witches and all matter of amazing things good times for me.

Head back to the van, PJ/H20/Melon Chewy, do some warm ups and we play. Cant believe kids who saw us one time ages ago have come back and are singing along it was a really fun show and all our friends from Perth are here hanging out singing along was alot of fun.

Post show Far tells me an amazing story about a phone call he got before the show goes like this:

Our friend from home Jay calls Far and says: "Hey mate whats goin on what are you doing this afternoon was gonna come around for a beer"

Far replies: "Dude im in perth!!!"

Jay: "Shit really? alright well ill call ya back later"

One hour passes........

Far: "Hello?"

Jay: "Dude its Jay can you pick me up from the airport in like 7 hours?"

ahahahahaahahaha

So we go to Damien from Fractures Of's place as he is putting us up tonight after Far drops us off he is off to the airport to pick up Jay, ahaha so good.

Ok so Damien from Fractures Of's house is RIDICULOUS! dude has his own bar out the back the place is like 5 seconds from the beach like 6 rooms a big white huskie called Bella and heaps of other cool shit he drags us out to the bar where we hang and have a few beers and find out that in half an hour when the clock strikes midnight it will be Damo's birthday so the guys rip into the beer and at midnight we all wish him happy birthday and i head to bed.

28/03/2009

I wake up to whispers "Where is he? is it this room? its this room right?" i hear the door creak open and immediately proclaim "Fuck off jay dont you touch me!!" Jay jumps on me and says good morning damn near breaks my hip doing it. I jump out of bed and once again (cos i miss out on everything cos i am a big skirt and dont drink heaps) am told about the previous nights shenanigans when Jay got home from the airport everyone started pounding the drinks a playstation 3 match off happened and no one has been to bed yet. When i enter the kitchen a bbq is being prepared and so are bloody marys for everyone i get a phone call from Ryan who as well as being nice dude/ED guitarist/love of my life is also a tattoo artist and a really really good one he tells me he has an opening spot today if i want to go down and get tattooed i say yeah and convince Lachlan to drive me.

After the best tour breakfast ever! i shower and Lach and i make the 45 minute trip to Mt Lawley. Little known fact about Lachlan when he is tired he is the funniest dude alive we took turns picking radio stations and got the weirdest mix of songs ever he was cracking me up singing along to random foreign stations and being a general fool. Got there said hey spent about 40 minutes in the chair being tattooed back to the van back to Damiens.

Tonights show is the last show on the tour and hopefully the biggest so everyone is ready to go. We are playing the rocket room which is in Northbridge (another not so nice area) when we get there we say hey, load in, soundcheck (i have to play drums at soundcheck cos Lach is at a Netball trivia night, dont ask. seriously.) After that i go for a walk and check out Northbridge its not as bad as i first thought they got a timezone, thats ok with me. Get a phone call from Cam and Dezo from Calerway!! (dezo has left the band but we met when they toured with us) to say they are coming to the show also the amazing Tim Marley and his girlfriend are in attendance yeeoowww we missed these guys and they are coming down to party so tonight should be sweet.

Back to the venue to watch some bands and say hey to all our friends who have turned up. One of the people who we met last time who is here is Christine, Christine tells me she has been reading my blog and has brought me a present, out of her bag she pulls a 2 litre bottle of pineapple juice STOKED!!!!!! thank you again Christine that was really cool.

We watch the bands and i get stoked on a band called Grim Fandango who are kinda like Against Me, meets Gaslight Anthem meets Hot Water Music i really love them you should check them out www.myspace.com/grimfandangomusic
We head on and everyone is well liquored up!!! Including Ash, Jay and Bluntish who have been doing tequila shots for the last two hours haha Bluntish could barely string a sentence together watching him trying to convince his girlfriend he wasnt that drunk was piss funny. Kenny and Far were doing shots with the sound guy before the show so we were ready for an interesting night. During the news Cam runs up for some harmonies haha, Far blows an amp and during we take this to the night i climb onto the bar so it was the funnest show of this tour easily.

Post show everything just gets ridiculous. We meet a security guard called Andre who tells us there is a strip club above the venue and when we have loaded out there is a bunch of free alcohol and free admission to the club upstairs so we load out and head upstairs. Drinks are flowing!!! all the boys are sauced i start on the bourbon and cokes and am catching up real fast. After a bunch of drinks we stumble back downstairs to rocket room where there is a covers band playing and they have just started playing Killing in the name of, as far as Kenny, Far and i were concerned it was on we stormed the stage pinched all their microphones and took over hahahah was amazing. After that even Andre the security guard jumped up and had a sing!! was amazing.

The night kinda gets a little hazy from here on out and i dont remember heaps i went back to my accom and passed out the boys kept going and went from the bar to the airport to fly home hahaha.

29/03/2009

Wow of all the times i've said it this was the worst, felt so shiiiiit but it was completely worth it hahaha. Since i dont fly out till tomorrow Ryan and i are gonna hang we head to Leederville to get greasy food and then back to his place in Baldivas to hang out. We start watching the number 23 i wake up at the end and Ryan proclaims that i have an amazing snore on me. Yessss sir. Ryans girlfriend Tara and his dog Mogwai come home and his room mate and other Elora guitarist Isaac stumbles out of his room we eat and then get into an argument about who are better Zombies or Vampires (vampires!) watch Yes Man with Jim Carrey, funny but not amazing. after that i am stuffed and am ready for bed, nighty night.

30/3/2009

wake up get changed and get ready to go HOME! This was such a good trip but by the time i get into the car i am ready to go back to Sydney and sleep in my bed. Ryan drives me out to the airport, when we get there there are thousands of people outside the airport and we have no idea whats going on i say goodbye to Ryan and say something stupid like "Its probably nothing" when i get closer i find out they are not letting anyone in. BAGGAGE HANDLER STRIKE! bastards!! I speak to a lady from the rental car place and she tells me that no one is going anywhere for a long time, i start to freak out and then suddenly remember that my Dad is in town on business!! YESSS OLD RICKO TO THE RESCUE! call up dad tell him the deal he says he has a hotel in the city that i should just go there and hang out FUCK YESSS!!! spend the day in the hotel until Jay calls me up and tells me he is still in town like me until tomorrow so i head into the city meet him and sutter we hit the beers and do a mini pub crawl then i head over to northbridge to hit up timezone (i rule at arcade mario kart, challengers hmm hmm?) then go have dinner with dad, back to the hotel to sleep.

31/03/2009

Head out for breakfast with Jay and Sutter to the most depressing bar in all of Perth i dont know what it was called but it was 10 am we were eating breakfast and they were playing like the best of celine dion and all this other depressing shit but the food was good say bye to the boys head to the airport. No entertainment on this flight!! qantas as given everyone 30 dollar give vouchers for the newsagents so i go buy a book (The Curious Incident of the dog in the night by Mark Haddon) i jump on the plane almost read the book from cover to cover then i am HOME!!!!!!!!

Thank you to anyone who came out and a massive THANK YOU to everyone who let us sleep on their floors and fed us or came and said something nice to us. We love Perth and if i forgotten any amazing story or anyone let me know and i will add it in!!! xoxoxoxoxoxox

Photos from the last Perth show.

Good Times And Killer Rhymes - Part 3

19/3/09
Adelaide, Adelaide, Adelaide as much as we love you, you are a bastard to get to. We all roll up at Far's parents place where he is having a nice birthday dinner with his family pack the van (including unscrewing two chairs from the 12 seater and stuffing it with mattresses to make a double bed, nice job kenny) and get in the van for the staggering 18 hour drive. Nothing really exciting happens as by now we have been in a van together over the course of this tour for something ridiculous like 30 hours everyone just keeps to themselves i put on my ipod make my way to the "back lounge" and fall asleep. Wow, the excitement.
20/3/09
Drive till about 1pm when we arrive at photographer extroadinnaire (sp?) and best friend to the mission Fiona Stafford's house where we all crash out in her lounge room for a much needed afternoon kip. Everyone wakes up, showers/shaves and we head to Fowlers for tonights show. I love fowlers i think its easily Adelaides best venue i just get a good vibe from it the staff there are super nice and they always hook us up with stupid amounts of beer so everyone is happy. Do the greet thang with the oneals and a year to remember. Happy to find out that my friend Josh and his new band The Miracle Is Now are opening the show i catch up with him and he tells me how the recording of their ep is going we enjoy a cherry cigar backstage and hang with everyone else. Before the show starts i grab Johann (oneal manager) and head off to get food, in every town i try to find a mexican place i like and stick with it on every tour in Adelaide we have Burp every time we have been here i hit it up so i grab a vege burrito and head back to the show. YUM.
Caught the last song of The Miracle Is Now, sounded great wish i had watched the whole thing. AYTR play well. We head on and after the first song Lachlan's kit pretty much falls apart so that sucked we go into a guitar/vocals version of Last Crusade to kill time, yeah didnt work as well as it did in Sydney hahah the kit is fixed and we get back into it. Its good to drive 18 hours and see a whole bunch of people singing along not the best show we have played on this tour in terms of how we played but still a good time. After that i head off to catch up with my friend Kaz while we watch the oneals. It kinda seems like a whirlwind trip this time as we are only in adelaide for like 8 hours, we pack up the gear and say goodbye to everyone (still manage to tease Pees a little bit) and then get to driving to Melbourne!! Drew is up for the drive and pulls a 7 hour stint behind the wheel to get us there, massive effort.
21/3/09
Far finishes off the driving and we arrive in the wonderful town of Berwick where our friend, viking, lord and god amongst fisherman Craig Eloranta is putting us up for the night. Craig has been a friend of our bands for years pretty much since we started and we stay with him every time we are in town. We hit the back porch as we always do beers are cracked, yarns are spun and in no time Craig has us all laughing. Dudds (Craigs right hand man in drunken debauchery) shows up a bit hazy from a night before at the local pub and the bbq is lit. After a massive feed we all crash out. We wake up get changed and head for the show. Tonights show is at the Curtin bandroom which is in Lygon street we get a bit lost but manage to find it after a few calls to the oneals, the room is great we have never played here before but it looks like its shaping up to be a big night. Three girls from Brisbane (who hooked me up with lollies when we were in qld!) have flown over to see the last two nights of the tour THANKS GUYS! so we hang and catch up before i head off for water and pineapple juice. Post PJ and H20 we all have a tour party beer where everyone from the tour sits around over a few ales and we all have a laugh about all the stupid shit we did over the last few weeks. Show starts, tonights opening band is Click On Colour and the guys play well and looked like they had fun. AYTR head on, they have this new song called Hey Tiger and it is such a good song it's on their new ep that is coming out around May so make sure you go buy it. Right before we go on my friend Jess shows up, if you have seen our video for We Take This To The Night Jess is the girl in the red hoody and one of my best mates so we catch up real quick while i warm up and then we head on. Probably one of the best shows on the tour everyone was in a really good mood and we had a lot of fun. I was pretty keen to see SON play in their hometown and they did not dissapoint, neither did the crowd everyone was loving it as usual they walk on to Rick Ross's "Hustlin" which has pretty much been the anthem of this whole tour. Top set.
Post show we load up the van and discuss whether or not we should go to bang and wait in line 20 minutes to get a beer, we figured it wasnt worth it so back to Berwick we go where we have a beer on the porch and everyone heads to their allocated space on craigs living room floor to crash out.
22/3/09
Wake up feeling like crap, those couple of beers i had were not worth it my throat feels disgusting. Drink fifty litres of water, have a shower and we are back in the van on our way to Frankston for the last show of the tour. We arrive and are told we are super late and the people from the venue are pissed, no one else is here yet so we load the gear in and wait for the other bands to arrive. Everyone arrives looking less than amazing apparently a year to remember had a MASSIVE night out that ended at 8 am so we hear all the stories, kinda bummed we didnt go out but im sure i would have felt a thousand times worse than i do now so im not too bummed. Kenny's older brother lives in Melbourne and has come down to the show with his son and daughter to catch up pretty sure it was their first show ever as they are really young so that was rad. The first band on today is Ikari unfortunately i didnt get to see them as i was out grabbing food but i asked how they went and were told they played great. A Year To Remember, for being hungover played well once again i waited for Hey Tiger and got stoked when they played it. We had fun we hardly ever get to do AA shows in Melbourne so we were all stoked to play my throat held up way better than i thought i bagged Pees out onstage for the last time of the tour. Afer we play i ask Bryce (AYTR) if i can have a listen to their new ep we head to their van and Bryce shows me the songs they are fucking great cant wait for it to come out if you like them you will love them when they release this ep. Oneals bring the mosh and played sweet.
After the show we do a tour photo with everyone which was all time then packed up the van said our goodbyes and had one last tour jam to Hustlin where Bryce and Ryan climbed a van and danced on the roof hahahahah shit was hilarious. We jump in the van and begin our drive back to sydney nothing too exciting happened as everyone was fucking exhausted. This tour was so much fun and we want to thank everyone on it for being so nice to us and hanging out thank you to everyone who came out to a show or bought merch or let us sleep on your floor we really appreciate it. Its now 9 am on Monday morning and i am going to bed cause we are flying out for Perth on Wednesday hopefully i dont get sick.

Good Times And Killer Rhymes - Part 2

13/3/09

This weekend marks the beginning of the NSW leg of the good times and killer rhymes tour so we get it easy as we dont have to do a bunch of driving. Drew picks me up from my house we load on the trailer to his trusty station wagon headed for our first destination this weekend - Campbelltown. We have played C-town on pretty much every tour we have done for the last year and its always such a good time but this time we are playing an over 18's club as opposed to playing AA venues like we usually do so everyone is worried how tonight is going to go. We get to the venue and start loading in the boys from AYTR have been here for the last two hours so i think they might have been excited to see someone they knew, shorty after stealing oneal arrive and we shit talk about how their trip was and i give their manager Johann a big hug cos i havent seen the guy in a while then i immediately head over to the merch table to start giving shit to Pees who is SON's tour manager we have been teasing the living shit out of each other for this whole tour and tonight is no different. If you are coming to any of the remaining dates go see the really tall merch guy and yell "Hey Pees! PSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTT!!!"

As it gets closer to show time people start rolling up and i start to feel not so nervous, our friends Mark, Dean, Pete and all the boys who usually come see us in Campbelltown are here as well as Danny and his mates who have made the trek from Canberra to see us tonight THANKS BOYS! AYTR head on and play really well especially with being down a backup singer as Sam voice has left him but they sounded great like they always do.

The oneals get on and rock the place out more people spill in which is great i have decided that Chin Up Baby is probably the catchiest song i have heard in the last six months when they play it Pees and i get into a dance off behind the merch table which probably looked like two really really tired dudes having a lazy epileptic fit. Towards the end of their set i bolt across the street to grab my trusty pineapple juice, grab my ipod and head to the bathroom to do my vocal warm ups, i think there was a dude droppin a deuce in the stall next to me i must have scared the shit out of him when i started doing my warm ups hahaha poor bastard. After the boys finish we set up, the stage in this venue is tiny so i figure fuck it and jump on the floor with everyone else and let the band have the stage everyone is singing along and we had the best time!! one of the funnest shows on this tour so far. Oh and Tim from SON got naked and jumped on my back during We Take This To The Night funniest shit ever the look on the crowds face when he came out naked was fucking amazing. I guarantee Jack from SON has photos of that so hit him up for them. After the show we hang about and chat with everyone then i head home for an early night!

14/3/08

Tonight's show is our last headlining show in Sydney before we head into the studio so we had honestly been promoting the living shit out of it so we could play one last time to everyone we love and everyone who (hopefully) likes us! I jump on the train from home to head out to the show tonight and listen to The New Frontiers - Mending such a fucking pretty album (www.myspace.com/thenewfrontiers). While sitting on the train i get bored and start texting Ace Ventura quotes to Chris from Oneal as we have been quoting the life out of it all tour.

I get to the venue and we load in, one of our street team members Rachael is doing a tafe assignment in her music management course and has asked if she can interview me so we head off to get some mexican food while she asks me a few questions then i head back to the venue get changed and start waiting for all our friends to arrive everyone shows up and the show is ready to start the first band on tonight are some dudes from campbelltown called The Understatement so i watched them from the couch at the side of the venue with Ryan from SON these dudes have great harmonies the singer and guitar/singer's voices work really well together nicely done boys. Then AYTR get on, go to their myspace and listen to their song bombs (www.myspace.com/ayeartoremember) seriously go now ill wait here............................................... now i guarantee you dont have that song out of your head for the next two days its so good ive been singing it for 3 fucking days!! once again great show.

Stealing O'neal had the best show of the whole tour tonight they play so well everytime we see them but tonight they were so on and they smashed it once again i sang along like a dickhead frmo the merch table.

The room fills up and we hit the stage right before we are due to go on Far's amp blows up so we have to switch it with Tim's which delays us for 10 minutes after that we are off and cracking its always fun to play at home but this was hell fun just to see all your friends supporting and singing along as well as people i have never seen before feels so good. When we get to we take this to the night..... yup ya guessed it Tim balls and all appears on the stage hahahah since he did it last night i didnt see it coming still hilarious. After we walk off the old "One More Song!" chant starts we all stand by the merch table shitting ourselves cos we have no other songs!! all we practiced was the set for this tour and we didnt have anything else prepared so Far and i walk back onstage to do a Guitar/Vocals version of The Last Crusade which surprisingly turned out pretty well.

After the show i had to bail fast as our great friends Fifty Six(x) were playing their first show back after a long break and with new drummer Tim at the helm we didnt want to miss them so i jump in a cab with some friends and we head over, crowd is loving the boys tonight! I get there just in time to jump up and sing Let It Ride seriously this will sound so cheese but i missed this band we all love them as people and as a band and it was good to see them absolutely smash this crowd into the ground THEY EVEN HAD A WEDDING PROPOSAL LIVE ON STAGE! haha it was great and their new songs are a real big step up wait for that album to drop.

After the show finishes everyone else rolls up (oneals, mission dudes and our friends) and it starts to get really loose im not drinking so i can keep my voice because we have another show tomorrow at the metro so i say goodbye to everyone tell the oneals i will see them in adelaide and head home.

15/3/08

Wake up with my throat feeling like a frog took a shit in my neck ( gross i know but its the best way to describe it) and grab breakfast then head into the city. We are playing the metro today with the UK band McFly i have no idea who this band is but i was told they sold out the metro 2 weeks ago and are doing another show they asked us to play and as there arent many all ages shows on this tour we thought it might be good if anyone wanted to come check us out under the legal age.

I get to the venue and there is literally a line up around the street out the front of the metro i overheard some kids saying they had been there since 9 in the morning CRAZY! I get excited about the show and the fact that i am 30 seconds walking distance from Kings Comics so i head over there to scope the goods, saw a hellboy ouija board got a little bit stoked about that, checked out the amazing hard cover collection of The Walking Dead series and read half of the new Cal McDonald story before the lady behind the counter started eyeing me off like she was gonna say "Oi this isnt a library" so i headed over to the show to help Kenny load in. After load in we set up the merch and met the opening band who are a bunch of guys from Melbourne called Skybombers they were such nice dudes and have really toured their asses off they told us great stories about opening for the Foo Fighters in New Zealand and getting payed stupid amounts of money to go to Malaysia where the show they were supposed to play got cancelled so they got an all expenses paid trip to Malaysia for nothing. Doors open and kids FLOOD in all fighting over the front barrier spot hahahah i remember this shit when i saw Millencolin when iw as like 16 no fucken way was i giving my spot up at the front hahaha good to see kids still get excited about their favourite bands.

Our friend Jay came to hang out with us today and take some photos of the show and us hanging about in the dressing room (which i will post up when i get them off him) as we sit in the dressing room we hear the most ear piercing screams i had ever heard - Skybombers take the stage and the crowd is excited they are really good so go check them out if they are heading your way. After that we head on, most enthusastic crowd we have played too in so long thank you to everyone who was there it was a very warm welcome. After we play we head to the merch table to talk to people and relieve our merch girls so they can go to the bathroom.

Post show i head out to get mexican food and now i am sitting on the floor of my living room typing this and about to watch some TV before i fall asleep for 2 days.

Adelaide and Melbourne, your next.

Good Times And Killer Rhymes - Part 1

05/03/09

Tonight we begin our long voyage to the Gold Coast to begin The Good Times And Killer Rhymes Tour with our new friends Stealing O'Neal. As we are sharing a van on this leg of the tour the Oneal dudes are picking us up from my house on their way from Melbourne so they get to mine about 8 we hang out and meet each other do the whole getting to know you thing load up the trailer and we are on our way. On the way we all hung out and talked about random shit and basically just relaxed. Tom from Stealing O'Neal brought a portable dvd player so we hooked that up to the stereo and the boys watched Saving Private Ryan while i tried to sleep and listened to my ipod and soon fell asleep.

06/03/09
I wake up with the sun hammering down onto me i sit up and try and figure out where we are im told we are just near burleigh heads, we always stop here on our way to brisbane to hit the beach and get breakfast before we head to the gold coast so we hang out and chill out for a bit then jump back in the van and get to the gold coast. The boys are staying in Brisbane and we are staying witha friend on the coast so they drop us off and head to their accom as our friend doesnt finish work till 3.30 we have all day to keep ourselves occupied so Drew and Far head to the beach and Lachlan and i cruise around window shopping, Kenny flew to QLD on this leg of the tour for a holiday with his mates so we are meeting him at the show tonight. After a few hours walking around i go meet my friends Adam and Emily who happen to be in town the same time as us and we grab lucnh after that Lachlan and i get back to walking around we get bored until we find a timezone and instantly get stoked and play games for 2 hours we ruled at House of The Dead and Silent Hill but i suck at car games so Lachlan smashes me, shamed.

After a while we head to our accom get showered and hang out and then we head to the venue. Tonight we are playing the Hard Rock Cafe which is pretty much a restaurant with a stage on it we head into the backstage and greet our other touring friends A Year To Remember who are opening this tour after a few hours of socialising the show is ready to start and A Year To Remember head on stage they play well these dudes write super catchy songs i was digging it we have seen these dudes before and they are always fun to watch. After that Stealing O'Neal head on and although i have heard their ep plenty i havent ever seen them live and holy shit they are super good they play great. Our turn comes we jump on and have some fun and get everyone singing along.

After the show we load out and talk to everyone who hung around then us and the oneals decide we want to head to the beach just to chill out before everyone goes back to their accom to sleep after we head to the beach we are all standing on the sidewalk just hanging and Far decides to play a game with everyone where everyone has to do a rock off and the last person to lose has to stand there for 30 seconds being stared at by everyone while they have to think of something to entertain us be it a song or a performance it really puts the person on the spot our loser tonight is Tim from Stealing Oneal when his 30 seconds were up none of us could have predicted what was about to happen - Tim strips down to nothing (literally balls flapping in the wind) and climbs onto the roof of a parked car where he does a hand stand falls forward onto his back and straight off the side of the car. I can honestly say without a doubt i have NEVER laughed so hard everyone was in fits of laughter for the next hour it was amazing. The boys drop us off at our accom and we head to bed.

A Year To Remember bringing the mosh.

7/03/09

I wake up to a pillow cracking me in the head and Far going "Dude, shut up!" so apparently im a pretty loud snorer who knew? I wake up and drink 40 litres of water and then the rest of the boys slowly wake up. Blake (who is putting us up) and Drew went out last night after the show so we sit around listening to their stories of a massively drunken night out. Drew tells us he went to a bar where there was a covers band playing Blake in his drunken state piped up and yelled out "This dude is in a band!!!" so Drew drunk as hell got hauled up on the stage to sing Mr Brightside with a covers band hahaha loose. Blake is taking Far and Lach water skiing this morning so Drew catches up on more sleep while i spend a few hours in the pool. When the boys get back we pack up our stuff say bye to Blake and head to the train station to grab our train to Brisbane, we meet Kenny at the station and head to Brisneyland.
When we get there we have to find a hotel to crash at for the night as always we are duping the hotel industry and putting 5 people into a 2 person hotel room, total badasses. So everyone showers up Kenny gets excited about bath robes and we watch the first 2o minutes of Edward Scissorhands before bailing off to the venue after we drop our stuff off i head off to find dinner and find a really nice Sushi joint the name escapes me now but it was great! When your hanging around dudes 24 hours a day its sometimes nice to head off on your own and hang out so i walked around for an hour after dinner just listening to my ipod and hanging out i was listening to Ryan Adams - Suicide Handbook which was nice to listen to while i checked out the city. After this i headed to the venue and we all stuffed around in the band room. Chris from SO and i discovered we both love Ace Ventura the original (not the second one, Tom rates it, we were off it) so we instantly begin quoting the shit out of it and then its time for the show to start.

Stealing Oneal nailed it tonight they played great and pumped us up so we had a super fun show too sound was good, there was a singalonggoinon it was sweet!!! After the show we all hit the bar and started getting loose after a few beers we headed out to the van to drink more beers and hang out with people from the show after a few beers the subject of Far's game came up again and before we knew it the rock off was happening again i was absolutely shitting myself thinking it was totally gonna be me and what the fuck i was gonna do but alas it was Chris from oneal, when his 30 seconds came up he had no idea what to do so in true Stealing O'Neal fashion Chris stripped down to nothing holding his junk in his hand he bolted down the main street of Brisbane in front of hundreds of people running around and screaming we were all in tears with laughter on his way running back a night security guard happened to get in his way so the guard ran out of Chris's way so Chris spanked him on the ass and chased him up the street hahahahah it was sooooo good. After a few more beers Tom, Far and I headed to Hungry Jacks to chow down then to the hotel to sleep. Top night.
KG getting his sexy all the way right.

8/3/09
Today we wake up all feeling less than amazing we shower and check out of the hotel i head off to get water and pineapple juice (good for the throat) meet the boys at subway for breakfast then walk down to Kill The Music which is this record store in Brisbane that has a venue attached to it called The Hive where today's acoustic show is. We get to the store and all of us start checking out the cd's and shirts has anyone seen the artwork to the new propaghandi record? WOW! after we are done shopping we all head into the venue where there are plenty of kids!! STOKED! last time we played here we played to like 10 people so its nice that there are more people here. We like playing acoustic shows its nice to play the songs differently (and in a lower register because my voice is less than amazing today) but we get through the set and have fun and surprisingly i think it went pretty well. Stealing O'Neal play and sound great (oh! and a year to remember were good too!) also some girls from the show the night before brought me lollies for the van ride!! YES!! sour skittles rule, thanks guys!
After the show we pack the van and head home on the van ride we watch step brothers ive been meaning to get around to this movie but just havent been bothered to check it out, sooooo funny we all sit there exhausted pissing ourselves laughing until we all fall asleep i manage to squeeze myself into a comfortable position enough to sleep and wake up out the front of my house!!! STOKED!!! we unload the trailer say goodbye to the boys (who still have 10 hours left to get to melbourne, poor bastards) i head inside and catch the simpsons on Fox 8 before i pass out.
Cant wait for the rest of this tour!!! YEOW!!!!!!!!!!!
